Know more about CIBIL Disputes

Inconsistencies in your credit report might happen for a number of reasons. These inconsistencies can have an impact on your credit eligibility and CIBIL score. It is recommended that you submit a resolution request to CIBIL so that any discrepancies can be addressed immediately and your creditworthiness is not harmed. Different Types of CIBIL Disputes

Broadly there are two types of CIBIL Disputes in any CIBIL report, that are as follows:

Individual Disputes

A personal information error or duplicate account difficulties could cause inaccuracies in your CIBIL Report. A mistake in the filing of a person’s name or address is one example of an individual dispute. If you have closed your personal loan or any other loan account but it still remains in your CIBIL report, or if a single loan account appears twice in your CIBIL report, you may have duplicate account issues. Individual credit reports are prone to inaccuracies, therefore it’s a good idea to do a free cibil score check to check for any discrepancies in your CIBIL report.

Disputes over Business

Any error in a company’s credit report is defined as a commercial dispute. It may occur if the CIBIL report has ownership information issues, numerous accounts, or inaccurate or incomplete data. A claim can also be filed by completing a dispute resolution form and including the company’s authorised signature. A dispute resolution form, on the other hand, cannot be used to change a member’s name, account number, enquiry date, or control number.

Dispute Resolution Process

When you submit your dispute resolution form, CIBIL will begin the dispute resolution process. The steps involved in resolving a dispute are listed below:

  • When CIBIL receives your dispute resolution application form, your CIBIL report will be marked as “under dispute” in the areas specified on the form.
  • Following that, CIBIL would investigate the problem by contacting the relevant lenders.
  • The Lender’s response to the CIBIL inquiry would next decide the corrections.
  • If the lender confirms the discrepancy, CIBIL will make the necessary modifications to your report and tell you.
  • If the Lender rejects your dispute, CIBIL will not make any modifications to your report and will inform you that nothing has changed.
  • At the end of your report, the word “under dispute” is eliminated.

By clicking on each component of the Online Dispute Resolution Form, you can dispute several elements and information on your report in one dispute (i.e. Personal, Employment, Contact, Account Details and Enquiry). The above information is the resolution process when you raise a CIBIL dispute. However, the time to resolve your dispute might vary depending on the dispute type and various other factors.
